Deep Dark forms far below the surface in low-erosion areas, but finding sculk does not necessarily mean an Ancient City is nearby.
What to Look For
- Search beneath large mountain regions rather than random flat terrain
- Explore deep caves in the deepslate layers and watch for sculk spreading across surfaces
- Carry wool and move carefully once sensors or shriekers appear
Find Deep Dark Biomes with Commands
Use /locate biome minecraft:deep_dark. This finds the biome, not necessarily an Ancient City.
Common Search Problems
If the search is taking much longer than expected, check these common causes.
- A Deep Dark biome does not guarantee an Ancient City
- Digging straight down is unsafe
- Player-placed sculk does not change the biome
